Everyone who knows me, will tell you I’m very passionate about health and nutrition, but that wasn’t always the case. Growing up in the late 60’s and 70’s, I could have been the poster child/teen for junk food, and my stomach and digestive tract reflected that. It wasn’t until my 19th birthday when I attempted my first food experiment by eliminating all fried foods from my diet that my life and gut improved tremendously. Unfortunately, it was short lived. A few years following, I was inflicted with an acute intestinal problem that persisted for over a month. Reluctantly, and at my Dr’s suggestion (a very alternative suggestion for the time) I removed all dairy products from my diet for the weekend. Much to my surprise I was 95% better. To this day, I do not consume dairy. Since then, I have experimented with various cleanses and different eating theories, such as vegetarian, macrobiotics, and raw foods, only to learn; not every diet or cleanse works for everybody. There is a bio-individual approach when it comes to food because everybody is unique and has specific preferences and characteristics. After the birth of my first child, I took up running, played tennis, and participated in an occasional yoga class. After completing my first (and last) marathon in November 2005, I decided to run less and devote more energy towards yoga, increasing my practice to 4-5 times per week. After several months of practicing, I noticed my muscles became leaner, longer and stronger and my mind became calmer and more focused. What began as a way of staying healthy and fit soon transformed into devotion and a way of life. I became a Certified Yoga Teacher in 2005 and continued training with Bhakti Flow guru, Rusty Wells, in 2011. In 2010, I became a Certified Holistic Health Counselor through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and worked out of my house to support & guide professional women and couples with their dietary needs, before opening BalancingEnergy Health & Yoga Center in 2012. It is my mission to work with people to reduce their stress, increase their energy and bring balance to their diet and lifestyle. I am so blessed to be living the dream!
