Eat a Light, Balanced Breakfast – This will balance your blood sugar levels so you aren’t starving by the time you encounter the biggest food celebration of the year!
Sip on Ginger Tea – Sipping on ginger tea 20-30 minutes before or during your meal will aid with digestion.
Eat Papaya – Have a cup of papaya chunks before or after your meal. Papaya is loaded with digestive enzymes and very low in calories.
Chew Your Food – Eat slowly, and chew your food at least 25 times. Chewing your food makes for easier digestion, which starts in the mouth. Talking more, will also produce the same affects. Just don’t talk with your mouth full :).
After Meal Tips – Incorporate an Ayurvedic strategy: after you eat, lie on your left side for 10-15 minutes. The stomach is on the left side of the belly and empties from left to right into the small intestine. Lying on the left side will allow the stomach to hang freely and contract naturally to move the food through when it’s all properly digested. When you lie on the right side, the food gets pushed through prematurely by the stomach, which can cause indigestion, gas pains or bloating. After you rest, go for a short walk! Moving the body will help with digestion and help prevent weight gain.
